BSB: No stopping Lavilla

1 of 1

Gregorio Lavilla took another double race win at Oulton Park, but had to battle hard in both races to beat Shane Byrne and Karl Harris.

Lavilla and Harris broke free of the chasing pack early in race two, and the scene was set for Harris to challenge on the last corner of the last lap, having been thwarted in his earlier attempts to pass the Spaniard. Harris ran wide, however, allowing Lavilla to outdrag him to the line by 0.058 of a second.

Third provisionally went to Shane Byrne, as Jonathan Rea was demoted one place following a collision between the two riders. As Byrne attempted to overtake the Honda rider into the second chicane the pair touched heavily, with Rea forced to miss the chicane entirely. Byrne left the track but rejoined before the chicane, too far behind the further challnge for the final step of the podium. Also missing out was Leon Haslam, who started from pit lane, and managed to climb back up through the field to take seventh. To see the full list of results, click here.

Race one saw a win for Gregorio Lavilla but he was made to work hard by Shane Byrne on the Rizla Suzuki. The former MotoGP star seemed unlikely to race due to illness, but got a good start alongside team-mate james Haydon. Byrne moved into the lead around the middle of the race, but exhuastion saw him make some small mistakes, letting Lavilla resume control, and almost highsiding in front of early race leader, and eventual third place finisher Leon Haslam. Fourth went to James Haydon.

Karl Harris finished fifth after he was forced off the track at the first corner by Jonathan Rea. He dropped as low as 19th before fighting his way back up through the field, including passing team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari, who had a disapointing race. To see the full list of results, click here.
