Fantasy race month 3

The third Game Month of Fantasy Road Race 2006 commenced with the MotoGP meeting in France and the BSB race weekend at Mondello Park, although adverse weather conditions ultimately caused the cancellation of the latter.

At Le Mans, Valentino Rossi looked all set for his second race victory of the season before mechanical problems resulted in his retirement for the second successive race. This left pole position man, Dani Pedrosa, out in front, but the Spaniard was soon reeled in and overtaken by the eventual race winner, Marco Melandri.

Loris Capirossi also out-braked Pedrosa in the latter stages to secure second spot, with the ever-consistent Casey Stoner holding off Nicky Hayden for fourth.

Meanwhile, BSB fans were forced to leave Mondello Park disappointed after race officials opted to cancel both races as a result of dangerous track conditions caused by heavy rain.

Official sources state that the races will not be rescheduled for later in the year, although qualifying points will still stand in the Fantasy Road Race competition, meaning that Ryuichi Kiyonari keeps the five points for gaining pole position in Saturday’s qualifying session.

All this ensures that Robin Goodwin and Michael Blackburn take a two point advantage over former leader Tom Randow into next weekend’s WSB meeting at Silverstone.
