Fans’ favourite Chris Walker will return to the British Superbike Championship for 2007 after signing for Rizla Suzuki.

The 34-year-old secured his ride by winning the Race of the Year at Mallory Park in Leicestershire on October 15 on the GSX-R1000 he will ride next season.

Walker said: “I think just about everybody knew how much I wanted the ride, it was number one on my wish list and I couldn’t be any happier than I am right now.”

The Nottingham racer won a World Superbikes Championship race in Assen in August whilst riding for PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse. Walker is four-times runner-up in the British Superbike Championship which he left in 2000.

He will be joined by reigning British Supersport Champion, Cal Crutchlow who he expects to push him throughout the 2007 season.

He added: “I have watched the BSB Championship during the last couple of years and the competition is fierce and of extremely high quality.”

Rizla Suzuki will travel to Valencia next week for testing following a stint at the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at Birmingham’s NEC.
