Red Bull end rookie team

Drinks firm Red Bull has announced the end of a three year partnership with Honda to promote young riders.

The scheme will end with the last round of the 2006 British superbike championship on October 1, 2006, with the two current riders, Jonathan Rea and Eugene Laverty, retaining support from the brand with personal sponsorship.

“When we set up the Red Bull Rookies team the aim was to find new talent and nurture it by providing the best opportunities,” said Red Bull motorsport head Linda Pelham. “Following three great years with Honda, both Jonathan and Eugene are now among the top competitors in their respective classes, so our goal has been achieved.”
