James Toseland and Jonathan Rea have given their support to an all new race academy to help up and coming young riders.

Phil Bergan who sponsored Neil Hodgson at the beginning of his career is giving his support to the UK1 Racing team who are running Kev Coghlan and Dean Brown in the 125cc British Championship.

UK1 racing already receive guidance from Niall Mackenzie and Ron Haslam, but the additional guidance and sponsorship will only assist them in their campaign for the 125cc title.

Speaking to MCN, Rea said: “It’s a little bit ironic that I’m an mentor to Kev Coghlan as the first time we met we were both trying out for the Red Bull Rookies, which is how my career started.

“There’s a lot of bullshit in racing so the most important thing is having good people around you and people you can trust.

“I’ve been fortunate to have the right people around me from the start and it looks to be the same for Kev and Dean which is great.”

Toseland added: “It’s great to be involved in helping young British riders, hopefully the advice I give can help them.”
