Reed’s Supercross title charge back on track

1 of 1

Chad Reed put on a Supercross master class all of his own in Toronto.

Qualifying easily despite a tumble in his heat that saw him finish fifth, in the main event the San Manuel Yamaha rider was simply in a class of his own, leading from lights to flag when it seemed like everyone else was struggling with the rutted, technical track.

The 2004 champion had taken a week off over Easter, flying back home to Australia and not even riding during the break, but it seems like the layoff did him the world of good, as he now enters the final five rounds with a 20 point lead over Kevin Windham.

Torco Fuels Honda rider Windham fought back from an average start to take second after Davi Millsaps fell on lap two, but Millsaps staged a recovery that saw him fight off teammate Andrew Short, then retake second place as Windham also fell.

Also known as K-Dub, Windham was in no mood to submit, however, staging his own recovery on the technical track to repass Millsaps for second with five laps to go.

Millsaps and Short took third and fourth for Honda, whilst Yamaha’s Josh Hill had an entertaining day, finishing an excellent fifth despite a brace of crashes.
