Webb ends Blazusiak’s SuperEnduro streak

American KTM rider Cody Webb has ended Taddy Blazusiak’s four-win streak in the SuperEnduro World Championship, taking victory in Brazil ahead of Manxman David Knight with the Pole in third.

The American has been making steady progress in the series, and a maiden overall win looked almost inevitable after taking heat victories so far this season.

“After getting so close numerous times for the overall victory it feels great to have finally got my first win in SuperEnduro. Coming into the final race I was tied on points with Walker for the overall but then we crashed in the first corner. I got going again but crashed a second time. Somehow I managed to claw my way back to the third and it was enough for the overall.”

However, it was British rider Jonny Walker who was leading up until the final race, but, going down with Webb, his fellow KTM rider managed to tangle an advertising banner in his back wheel. He was subsequently disqualified after needing outside assistance.

Despite Knight managing to beat off Blazusiak for second, the Manxman’s chances at another world title look all but over for this season. With one round left in two weeks time, Blazusiak now holds a lead of over forty points.
