Dakar stage 2: Video highlights

Day two of Dakar saw the riders get chucked right into the deep end with an ultra-long day in the saddle – all 518km of it! With varied terrain all day – everything from gravel to sand – it was set to be a major test early in the race.

It was Honda’s Joan Barreda Bort who made the most of it, taking twelve minutes out of race favourite Marc Coma, after the KTM rider’s rear tyre let go. Meanwhile, Brit Sam Sunderland, winner of stage one, lost over two hours after getting lost in the desert.
