EWC: Yamaha unveil 20th anniversary Suzuka 8 Hour bike

Yamaha have unveiled the special edition bike that defending champions Katsuyuki Nakasuga, Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark will use at this year’s Suzuka 8 Hour, with the paint scheme harking back to the first R1 twenty years ago.

A first-time winner last time out in the World Superbike championship, Lowes says that it’s a huge honour to once again be asked back to the squad in hopes of lifting their fourth consecutive crown at the prestigious race in July.

“It’s a great honour to be asked back by Yamaha to represent them again at Suzuka. It’s such an important race and one I really enjoy. Also, I’m looking forward to working with Michael and Nakasuga-san again after our success last year. I have a chance to win there with the Yamaha Factory Racing Team for the third year in a row and on the 20th anniversary of the R1, I can’t wait!”
