Jentin’s ’07 plan

British 125 champion Daniel Cooper will ride for the Jentin team in British Supersport in 2007. The 19-year-old from Stroud will have one new R6 plus the Piranha Yamahas fettled by Race Techniques and raced by Simon Andrews this year.

Jentin will also run brand new 2007 R1s in the British Superbike class but have yet to confirm their rider, though team boss Bernie Toleman said: “We’re aiming to keep Simon Andrews. He did a great job when he jumped from his R6 onto our R1 last year and was on the pace straight away.

“It’s an incredibly tough class but Simon got an eighth at Brands purely on merit and not on attrition.”

Andrews signing for the Jentin depends on the team securing the budget to run him, though Toleman is confident he will be able to confirm his plans early in the new year.

He added: “Simon did well on our old bike last year considering he’d never ridden a superbike before but it’s so nice to be building brand new race bikes again.”

Jentin dominated the 2004 BSB Privateer Cup with James Ellison with a Pirelli-shod R1 – the same bike, albeit with Dunlop tyres, that Andrews raced this year.
