British Superbikes: Chris Walker fit to race at Oulton Park

Chris Walker is fit to race his Rizla Suzuki British Superbike at Oulton Park next weekend, after a broken arm scare.

He crashed at over 120mph at the Croft test on Wednesday morning and sustained what circuit medics thought might be a broken radius in his left arm.

But a subsequent x-ray on Thursday morning at Chris Walker’s local hospital revealed no broken bones.

Chris Walker said: “The arm is brand new now, not even stiff. It was very sore after the crash but the doctors think that was down to stretched tendons and bruising but there’s definitely nothing broken. I’ve still got a stiff neck but even that’s getting better each day. So I’m not too bad considering.”

After heavy storms washed out Tuesday testing at Croft, Chris Walker had hoped for a full day on the bike on Wednesday in the dry, especially as he’d not seen the track since 1998 and that too was a test day in the wet.

So to crash so early on Wednesday and miss the entire afternoon session was a blow.

But he remains upbeat and said: “It’s a bit frustrating that we had the crash. We did need to test but we’ve already learned a lot about the bike since the last time we were at Oulton.

“We also did a good job at Knockhill in qualifying as well as the two races and I’m looking forward to carrying that moment on to Oulton Park.”
