1 of 1

Airwaves Ducati rider Shane “Shakey” Byrne has won at Donington Park in a dry but extremely windy first race.

Shane Byrne lead for the majority of the race and managed to hold off  the rest of the pack after the safety car was brought out during laps nine and 10 due to number 51 Luke Quigley’s Suzuki setting on fire.  Byrne finished the race nearly two and a half seconds ahead of second place man Leon Haslam.

Leon Haslam started from seventh on the grid but managed to fight his way through the pack to finish second with Rizla Suzuki rider Tom Sykes finishing third.

Karl Harris was on track to finish fourth, but James Ellison, Leon Camier and Cal Crutchlow passed Harris in the closing stages of the race to push him back to seventh. Privateer Cup leader Chris Burns was forced to retire on lap 16 due to mechanical problems.
