Motorpoint Yamaha - back from the brink

1 of 1

What a turnaround. One minute Rob McElnea is ready to close down his race shop after their most disappointing season ever. The next he’s arguably bagged the biggest coup in BSB by signing former WSB and BSB champion Neil Hodgson.

“It was borderline to us all jumping into the trench,” admits McElnea. “We had just about had enough after this season. Everyone put so much into it and you have a year like that.”

But that’s all in the past. It’s all systems go up in Scunthorpe with Hodgson and Dan Linfoot lined up to ride the Motorpoint Yamahas next year and McElnea said:

“I was so excited when Neil came to Croft to see us but at them same time, I didn’t want him seeing the bike because it looked so bad on track. But he obviously saw it through different eyes and felt even then there was something to work with.  I love the way he’s really up for it and can’t want to start working with him.”

Hodgson’s team is Dan Linfoot. McElnea’s team will concentrate solely on the two-man BSB team after trying unsuccessfully to run a four-man with three riders in BSB and one in Supersport.
