Linfoot gets wild card WSS rides

Dan Linfoot will race the Node4 Yamaha R6 at Magny Cours this weekend and again at Portimao on October 25. And between the two he’s ride the team’s superbike in the BSB round at Oulton Park on October 11.

Linfoot started the season well on the supersport bike – taking three podiums on four races but has since been hindered by injuries.

With the championship out of the window – the team blooded him on the superbike at Silverstone where he finished 18th in the first race but didn’t finish the second one.

Linfoot said: “The R1 is certainly different to anything I’ve ever ridden before. I had hoped to be a bit closer but it is the penultimate round of the series and those boys have been racing them all year.

“I wasn’t worried so much where I finished, more that I kept progressing each time I rode it.”

Although it was his first time on the cross-plane crank R1, it wasn’t his first ride on a superbike.

He rode Kalr Harris’ bike last year and Linfoot’s crew chief ‘Spider’ said: “When he rode last year was giving it 20% more throttle than Karl on corner exits.

“(Ian) Prestwood (the team’s engine management tehcnician) reckons he’s never seen the traction work so hard before.

“Dan has a really good feel and seems to open the throttle earlier on the 600 than most.”

But that full attack mode wasn’t working on the R1 at Silverstone so well and he looked far from comfortable on the unsettled machine coming of the corners .
Spider added:

“He rode this bike on Wednesday in a test and we were running softer springs but he looked better than he did in practice here. We eventually turned the traction down to help him get more feel for the throttle connection to the rear tyre.”
