Double BSB Champion Ryiuchi Kiyonari makes a dramatic return to BSB this weekend at Croft riding for HM Plant Honda.

The team has obtained special permission from Kiyo’s Ten Kate Honda WSB team for the Japanese rider to race at Croft.

Kiyo said: “I’m really excited to be riding for the HM Plant Honda team again. I’m also very happy to race in BSB and especially at Croft. I love this circuit and won both races when I last race there in 2007.”

Kiyo replaces injured Glen Richards who spent a day riding a rode bike at Croft last week be declared himself not fit enough to race.

HM Plant Honda team boss Neil Tuxworth said: “Glen gave it a go last week but he’s experienced enough to know that while he could ride, he wasn’t fit enough to race. We then approached Ten Kate to ask if Kiyo was free to ride for us and they agreed.

“It’s only a one-off ride (because Richards is expected to be fit for the next round at Silverstone) and we chose Kiyo because: 1) he knows Croft really well, 2) he’s worked with the team before and 3) we have a lot of bike set-up data we can tap into instantly.”
