Cooper back in BSB on Co-ordit Yamaha

Richard Cooper is back in the MCE British Superbike Championship at Silverstone this weekend with the Co-ordit Yamaha team.

Cooper joins the Cup competition for the second time this season after an outing earlier in the year at Mallory Park, when he qualified on the front row and scored a top five finish.

The Co-ordit Yamaha team will also be on the grid for the final round of the season at Oulton Park.

Cooper currently lies fourth in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship standings, just eight points adrift of John McGuinness in third, finishing on the podium four times this season.

Cooper has also recently rode for the BMW World Superbike team, replacing their injured rider Ruben Xaus, but now has his sights focused on the final two rounds of BSB.

It has also been announced that Cooper has signed to ride with Co-ordit in 2010.
Cooper said: “I am really looking forward to Silverstone.

“I think I have more experience now then when I did the two BSB races at Mallory Park and I have also had a round in WSB on the BMW so all this can only be of benefit to me.

“At the start of the season if someone would have asked me where I would expect to do better, given the chance in BSB, out of Mallory Park and Silverstone I would have said Silverstone.

“Mallory Park has never been one of my favourites and the track doesn’t really suit my style, so I am feeling quite optimistic for the weekend.

“I will still be riding in Superstock, but it didn’t seem to affect Brogie (Steve Brogan) or John McGuinness when they did both, if anything it might help me as I will want to ride the Superstock bike harder!”
