Silverstone BSS: Westmoreland takes race win, Plater moved to second

Triumph rider James Westmoreland took an easy win in the supersport race at Silverstone.

Current championship leader Steve Plater looked odds on for second palce after a fierce battle with MAP Yamaha rider Billy McConnell, until McConnell tried to pass Plater up the inside.

Plater was oblivious to the move and as a result, McConnell collided with Plater and sent the veteran Honda rider off the track.

Plater managed to stay on his Honda CBR600RR and brought the bike home in third place.

Billy McConnell stayed on his MAP Raceways Yamaha and finished second.

UPDATE

The finishing positions of Steve Plater and Billy McConnell have been reversed following the collision between the two riderson the last lap.

Plater now leads McConnell by 11 points in the championship.
