Baz and Westmoreland testing in Spain

New Motorpoint Yamaha signing Loris Baz and prospective team-mate James Westmoreland are testing at Cartagena today.

Baz is a confirmed runner with the team for next year’s British Superbike championship but Westmoreland is having a try out on the R1 before any decisions are reached.

Team boss Rob McElnea said: “We’ve got some time at a track day to give both of them a run-out on the bikes before the Christmas break. For Loris it will get him comfortable with some small changes we’ve made to the bike since the end of the year.

“James is obviously a very accomplished supersport rider but we need to see how he will adapt to a superbike. We’ve other riders were are considering but this was a great opportunity for us to see how James would cope being thrown in the deep end.”
