Donington BSS: Easton takes close win in red flagged race two

1 of 2

Stuart Easton has piloted his Mar-Train Yamaha to victory in the second Motorpoint Supersport race of the weekend at Donington Park, as the 600cc class produced yet another close and frantic race.

After disposing of early leader Glen Richards, Easton spent most of the race trading the front of the race with Smiths Triumph racer Billy McConnell; sometimes trading the lead in successive corners. Ben Wilson on the Gearlink Kawasaki also got involved with the battle, until he dropped back to third.

Easton was then able to pull out a short gap, leaving McConnell to battle with a late charging Jason O’Halloran as Wilson crashed out of yet another race.

Easton was some 1.8 seconds clear with O’Halloran winning the battle of the Australians when the red flags went out after three crashes in two laps at Craner, for Dean Hipwell, Glen Irwin and Rob Guiver.

Richards was fourth, with Taylor Mackenzie taking his best result of the season in fifth on the Tyco Suzuki.

Easton’s main championship rival, Alastair Seeley, was back in ninth when the flag went out, as he continues to be plagued with rib and elbow injuries from crashes at Cadwell Park and on Friday.
