Honda return to BSB with wildcard Urban Tiger

Honda have unveiled the first of their special MCE BSB colour schemes, as they return to Snetterton for the first of their four wildcard appearances in the championship this year. The colour scheme, in recognition of the Fireblade’s successes, harks back to the legendary 1994 Urban Tiger production paint job.

The scheme will be run just this weekend by World Endurance rider Julien Da Costa, who got his weekend off to a great start with fourth in the first session, as Honda prepare for a full return to the series in 2015.

Running the bike that took Alex Lowes to the title last year, the Frenchman has completed an extensive series of testing as the Louth-based team continue to develop the bike.

Honda UK’s Head of Motorcycles Nick Campolucci s”aid: Honda may not be contesting the full British Superbike Championship this year, but we wanted to maintain a presence as reigning champions and continue the development of the race bike ahead of 2015. Competing at selected rounds with Julien Da Costa aboard the CBR1000RR Fireblade presented the perfect opportunity to pay homage to a machine that has seen Honda claim some of its most prestigious motorcycle racing accolades. We’re looking forward to seeing the reaction of the fans this weekend when the livery is revealed.”
