Brookes makes it a double at Brands

Josh Brookes has made it a Milwaukee Yamaha MCE British Superbike double victory at Brands Hatch, matching his race one performance by holding off a Shane Byrne damaged after his race one crash.

Byrne was the early leader, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory. Instead, Brookes made his move and was able to pull clear, leaving Byrne to hold off the attentions of an incredibly strong Richard Cooper on the Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki.

James Ellison, still feeling the effects of his Snetterton qualifying crash, was in fourth, with Michael Laverty and him promoted to fourth and fifth respectively after Tommy Bridewell crashed out.

Next came a collection of BSB rookies, with strong results from Billy McConnell, Luke Mossey and Christian Iddon, with Jason O’Halloran, recovering from his race one crash, and Broc Parkes rounding out the top ten.

However, it was another war of attrition, with Chris Walker, John Hopkins, Jed Metcher, Lee Costello, Dan Linfoot and Michael Rutter all joining Bridewell as non-finishers.
