Former World Supermoto Championship front-runner Christian Iddon will look to continue his ascendency in the MCE British Superbike Championship in 2016 as he joins Tyco BMW alongside the returning Michael Laverty.

Iddon makes the move from Bennetts Suzuki after a successful first full year in the championship, running regularly in the top six on the GSX-R. And with a move to BMW power, alongside friend Laverty, he looks set to improve further in the coming season.

“I’m mega excited to be joining the Tyco BMW team, who for me have so much experience and kudos in the BSB paddock. To be the only team to get both riders in the top six Showdown this season also proves their level of commitment to both sides of the garage.

“I’m excited to be working alongside Michael Laverty and to be linked with BMW in their official team is also a big plus for me. I’ve seen how good the Tyco BMW guys are from the outside, so I can’t wait to get started as part of their team.”

Laverty, meanwhile, will be looking to build on a strong end to 2015, as he finally addressed the chronic problems he suffered all season with the S1000RR to take a long-overdue win at the last race of the season at Brands Hatch.

“The continuity of same bike and team is something I’m really excited about given the terrific progress we made towards the latter part of this season. We went out with a win in the final race of 2015 in BSB and that signals our intention going into the New Year.

“The TAS team has some interesting developments planned for the Tyco BMW S1000RR this winter, so taking into consideration that we finished the season with a winning motorcycle, a winter of fine tuning is an intriguing prospect.”

The duo will also be joined in the BSB paddock by the team’s Isle of Man TT racer Ian Hutchinson, who is set to take over from Alastair Seeley as the squad’s National Superstock 1000 rider.
