Champion Brookes extends Showdown streak

New MCE British Superbike champion Josh Brookes has extended his quest to become the first ever rider to win every race of the Showdown, by taking yet another dominant win in the second race of the weekend at Brands Hatch.

Initially sitting behind early leader Shane Byrne, he waited until mid distance before getting the hammer down and repeating yesterday’s performance to clear off at the front.

That left the real battle of the race behind him for the final podium place, with third to tenth running together on track and scrapping for the place. Front qualifier John Hopkins was the first to hold it, before Danny Buchan and then Michael Laverty became holders of it; with the Tyco BMW man maintaining it to the chequered flag.
