Silverstone BSB: Hickman takes race two victory

1 of 1

JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider Peter Hickman regrouped from his race one DNF to take a well-deserved victory in the secon race, seeing off a late charge from BE Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne.

Hickman ran wide going into the penultimate corner on the final lap, allowing Byrne to move through into the lead, but the Kawasaki rider altered his line and was able to get the power down early and outdrag Byrne to the line, as the four-time champion had a hude slide exiting the final corner.

Tyco BMW rider Christian Iddon again finished third after recovering from a huge moment on lap four.

With two second places from the opening weekend, Byrne leaves Silverstone at the top of the championship table ahead of the BMW duo of Michael Laverty and Christian Iddon.

Race one winner Laverty was keen to repeat his success, moving through to first place on lap two, before Hickman took the lead on lap six. Laverty was able to retake the lead on lap eight, but the Irishman mysteriously dropped down the field before regrouping late in the race to finish sixth.

Honda’s Jason O’Halloran finished fourth just ahead of Leon Haslam on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki, who started from the fifth row of the grid after his race one DNF.
