BSB: Ellison 'more comfortable' with Kawasaki after Cadwell test

1 of 1

James Ellison was pleased with progress made by the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team in their two-day test at Cadwell Park this week.

The Cumbrian was left frustrated after a technical problem saw him drop off the front group at Brands Hatch last time out, rounding off three difficult rounds after a tough weekend at Thruxton and double DNF at Snetterton.

Ellison has not been off the pace this year, he nearly won the opening race at Brands Hatch Indy, and has run with the front runners on numerous occasions but for various reasons, including a number of mechanical and technical issues, the results haven’t always gone his way.

This week’s Cadwell Park test marked the only real test time the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team have had since the start of the season, meaning Ellison, and team-mates Haslam and Hickman, were able to work through an extensive testing schedule.

“We had a lot of stuff to do after a tough weekend at Brands Hatch and Thruxton,” he said.  “I’m fairly happy with the way things have gone, I’ve gone faster than I’ve ever gone before around Cadwell Park and we’re able to run the times consistently as well.

“We ran through quite a lot of settings, tried many different things on the bike which is good for us as it’s not always something you can do on a race weekend. It’s been good to experiment with a few bits and get a lot more comfortable with the bike, hopefully we can benefit from it next week.”
