Leon Haslam has made his debut appearance on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki machine he will ride in the 2016 MCE British Superbike championship. The former World Superbike runner-up has joined teammates James Ellison and Peter Hickman for a three-day test at Jerez alongside the KRT WSBK team of Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea.

Working to adapt to the BSB-spec machine with the absence of traction control, Haslam says that despite the conditions he’s coming to grips with the bike.

“It was my first day on the Kawasaki, and we didn’t get out until a bit later with the damp conditions, but we had a pretty good afternoon. We had some small issues between the three of us but we are working really well together and I have been getting to know all the new guys. Our lap times are coming down and I can wait to get out there again tomorrow on the green machine.”

The trio of riders will move to Aragon on 3-4 February for a further two days’ testing, before returning home to continue development ahead of a further two three-day tests at Cartagena and Guadix in March.
