Frustrating weekend for Ellison at Brands Hatch

James Ellison was left frustrated at Brands Hatch this weekend after missing out on what could have been a double victory for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider.

Easily the fastest man across the weekend, Ellison topped two out of three practice sessions before just missing out on pole position to young gun Luke Mossey.

Leading the majority of Sunday’s first race, the Cumbrian was cruelly pipped to the line by team-mate Leon Haslam after having to roll off the throttle to control a tankslapper out of Clearways on the final lap.

Seething to have missed out on victory by just 0.057 seconds, Ellison came out fighting in race two and looked to be in control as he hit the front on the tenth lap before his ZX-10R cut out on him, cruelly forcing him out of the race.

“I honestly don’t know what to say! That first race was good and I felt strong so to just miss out like that is gutting – but it’s great to see the team up here claiming our first one-two and it shows the strength of the package we have. In the second race, I was feeling good again and although it was closer at the front I thought we could win but an electrical fault robbed us of the chance.

It’s a long championship though and we’ve now got a setting with the bike that I feel real comfortable with. We know what we’re capable of so we’ll regroup and come out ready to challenge for further podiums at Knockhill”
