Pole boosts confidence for young gun Mossey

Quattro Plant Teccare Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey was presented with a much-needed confidence boost at Brands Hatch this afternoon as he secured a debut pole position for tomorrow’s opening race.

After a tough weekend last time out at Oulton Park, the 23-year-old made a welcome return to the sharp end at Brands Hatch this afternoon to take pole position from James Ellison by just 0.028 seconds.

“I wouldn’t say we struggled all weekend but I haven’t been 100% happy,” Mossey told MCN after the session. “We made a few changes before qualifying and I was aiming for the first two rows so I’m over the moon to get pole. Hopefully we can convert it into our first rostrum of the year but we’ve got to do 30 quick laps first!

“I’m feeling confident and the bike is working really well, doing what I want it to do and I feel confident in myself now. We didn’t really do any long stints but in the few half race distance runs I did I felt pretty good.”

Starting from pole position for the first time since his days in British Supersport, Mossey is keen to make good headway in the early stages of tomorrow’s first race.

“I want to get a good start and get into the first three into the first few corners and after that the race will pan out. It’d be nice to lead in the early laps, but also it’s good to be in second so you can follow someone else but it is what it is, if you get an opportunity to lead you don’t pass it up.”
