BSB: Champ Byrne launches special end of season book

Six-time British Superbike Champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne has launched a limited-edition book to celebrate his 2017 title success.

‘Back to back’ tells the story of what Byrne has called his ‘toughest and most rewarding’ British Superbike title to date after he fought back from a 33-point deficit to overhaul rival Leon Haslam in the final round at Brands Hatch.

Stunning photography from 2017 taken by two of BSB’s most-commended photographers, Jamie Morris and Tim Keeton, is used to tell the story of a dramatic season over 92 glossy pages alongside 8,000 words of exclusive content from Byrne, as well as an insight from home with excerpts from his wife Petra.

“I foresaw this season being very different to what it ended up being like,” Byrne explains. “Winning back to back titles meant a lot to me, so I’d been planning to do a book at the end of the year if we were successful in that.

“When I read the completed book, the story really surprised me! I expected it to be so straightforward, but what we ended up getting was a rollercoaster of anger, frustration, elation and all kinds of emotions from the notes we’ve pulled together from across the season. I think people will be shocked to read some of it!
