BSB: Brookes: 'Yamaha feels like an old friend'

Josh Brookes has said the Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha feels just like ‘an old friend’ after finally getting some decent laps in with the team at Jerez yesterday.

The first two days at the Andalusian circuit were a write off for the 2015 MCE British Superbike Champion with bad weather limiting the progress they could make. However, an improvement in conditions on Monday saw him take a significant step forward with the R1 to leave the test happy ahead of the official test at Donington Park in two weeks’ time.

“The day was still delayed due to fog, but the afternoon was perfect sunshine,” said Brookes. “We got some good lap times in and pushed the bike to the limits it needed to be pushed to. I feel like I’ve slipped into the team well and everybody has gelled together brilliantly. The bike feels like the bike I left in 2015, it feels like an old friend.

“The general feeling and attitude from everyone is positive, we’re all looking forward to going to Donington now. A little bit of extra track time would have been good but the progress we’ve made is more than enough. I feel relaxed and at ease on the bike, we did some good lap times so now I’m looking forward to getting geared up for Donington.”
