BSB: Consistent Hickman nicks fourth in standings

Peter Hickman’s consistency paid off at the final round of the season after another solid weekend saw him clinch fourth in the championship after his Showdown rivals suffered.

He might not have had that final bit to challenge the title leaders this year, but 2017 has been Hickman’s most successful BSB season to date as he made the Showdown for the first time.

Finishing every race but one, slipping off only in the carnage that was the final race at Silverstone, Hickman hasn’t finished any lower than ninth on his way to fourth in the series standings.

“It’s been a good year,” he said. “I’ve tried for quite a few years to get into the Showdown and for whatever reason it’s not happened but we made it this year. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite make the most of that opportunity and it didn’t quite happen for us with the title fight, but I’m mega pleased with what we’ve achieved.

“We’ve finished fourth behind three world class riders, and that’s a great achievement and we were the top BMW in the championship too.”
