Bennetts BSB set for big Brands bash

After a dramatic Knockhill round, the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike championship resumes at Brands Hatch between 20-22 July with the emerging young guns looking to chase down Leon Haslam’s lead.

The Kawasaki man leads the championship by 74 points after a victory and a second place at Knockhill, but it’s not all clear cut with a charge of young riders setting after the series leader.

Jake Dixon took his first win of the year at Knockhill and had it not been for an almighty moment in the second race, he might have got the better of Haslam for the double. After six consecutive podiums, the 22-year-old is looking like the favourite to take it to Haslam this year.

Bradley Ray will be looking to bounce back after two difficult rounds on the Buildbase Suzuki. While the Donington sensation has been fast at every circuit this year, he’s struggled to turn that fast pace into strong results. However, having pushed champion Shane Byrne at Brands Indy earlier in the year, he’ll be looking to return to the top at his home circuit.

Things might not have gone well for Josh Brookes at Knockhill, but after a strong Snetterton the McAMS Yamaha rider should be strong at the Kent circuit, where he holds the lap record after a strong showing last year.

After clinching his debut double podium at Knockhill, Danny Buchan will be looking to continue his charge after finding himself in the top six following his impressive string of results.

BENNETTS BSB RETURNS TO KENT FOR THE ‘BIG BRANDS BASH’ ON 20-22 JULY

With local hero and multiple champion Shane Byrne out injured, it’s down to another local rider, rising star Bradley Ray, to challenge points leader Leon Haslam.

The spectacular summer Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit round is always a massive hit with BSB fans, with a huge campsite, free Saturday evening concert and plenty of off-track treats to complement the brilliant racing.
