BSB: Buchan: 'It feels great to be up the sharp end!'

Danny Buchan made surprise appearance at the top of the timesheets after a strong opening day at Knockhill.

The FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider’s lap of 47’473 is the quickest ever Bennetts British Superbike lap of the 1.3-mile Knockhill circuit, pipping best mate Jake Dixon to the top spot in FP2 by 0.005 seconds.

The double Superstock 1000 champion has made steady progress with the FS-3 squad over the first four rounds, culminating in two fifth place finishes last time out at Snetterton.

“I feel good, especially to have set the fastest ever lap of Knockhill and to be honest it felt like it came pretty easily,” Buchan said.

“We did a test here on my practice bike to blow the cobwebs off and that was positive and then we started here on the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki race bike and we were fast straight away.

“All credit to the team, we knew we were competitive, but I did a good run and that lap wasn’t like a qualifying session where you take your brain out and go for it.

“That is ideal and we are working towards the races, but it feels great to be up the sharp end that’s for sure. I am building momentum and I am going to bed with a smile on my face now!”
