BSB: Irwin: 'There are more than two people in title fight'

Glenn Irwin believes his two second places at Brands Hatch this weekend confirm him as a championship contender despite narrowly missing out on the win to Josh Brookes in both races.

Polesitter Irwin had to settle for second in both outings on Sunday, but he’s insists this year’s championship battle isn’t going to be a two man fight.

“I’d have loved to have got my first win of the year here but it’s important to be quick here as we come back here in Brands,” he said.  “The target was to close the podium points gap down and we’ve done that and now we know we can fight for wins at this track which is vital for the Showdown.

“40 points and six credits is not a bad weekend, it would have been lovely to get the win but we got our first pole, so I’ve got to be happy as I’ve shown we are championship contenders 100%… There are more than two people in this title fight, it’s going to be close!”
