Bennetts BSB set to resume at Snetterton after six week break

The 2018 Bennetts British Superbike season resumes at Snetterton next weekend with the field blown wide open by the absence of reigning champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne.

Byrne was injured in a crash during the official Snetterton test last month and is expected to miss the remainder of this year’s BSB season.

Having won three out of the last four races at the Norfolk circuit, Byrne was a clear favourite heading in to the fourth round of the 2018 season.

Snetterton is a circuit where BSB series leader Leon Haslam hasn’t finished on the podium since his return to BSB in 2016, but showed good pace in the recent test despite engine issues.

Luke Mossey was quickest at the test and will be hoping that will see him make a return to form after a difficult first few rounds.

After a strong weekend wildcarding at the World Superbike round at Donington, Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray will be keen to get his title fight back on track.

Honda’s Dan Linfoot, who finished on the podium at Snetterton in 2016, will be back in action for the first time since breaking his neck at Brands Hatch, while Jason O’Halloran also returns for Honda after the broken ankle he sustained while riding for the Red Bull Honda team in Imola.
Jake Dixon will be out to win after finding good pace to finish on the podium twice at Oulton Park last time out.

With champion Byrne out, there’ll be a number of names on the grid looking to kick-start their Showdown challenge at Snetterton Josh Brookes, Micahel Laverty and Christian Iddon who are all out of the top six at present.
