BSB: Ray snatches pole from Brookes at Snetterton

Bradley Ray snatched pole position for the fourth round of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Snetterton in the dying moments of this afternoon’s qualifying session.

The Buildbase Suzuki rider’s time of 1’46.632 halted Josh Brookes from securing his first pole of the season with just seconds remaining of the third and final Q3 session.

After a strong showing on Friday, Brookes dropped down the order in FP3 but a return to the previous settings saw him back at the front for qualifying and it had looked as though he’d done enough for pole until the young gun stole it.

Glenn Irwin, who set the early qualifying pace, will start third to complete the front row for Be Wiser Ducati.

Jake Dixon heads up row four ahead of series leader Leon Haslam while Honda’s Dan Linfoot showed impressive form to qualify sixth as he returns from a broken neck this weekend.

The second JG Speedfit Kawasaki of Luke Mossey heads up row three ahead of Danny Buchan, whose FS3 Kawasaki team had to rush to get him out for Q3 after a crash at Agostini’s in Q2 with Michael Laverty rounding out the top nine.

Also returning from injury, Jason O’Halloran narrowly missed out on a spot in Q3 and will start tomorrow’s opening race tenth, ahead of James Ellison and rookie Andrew Irwin.
