BSB: Two top fives for consistent Buchan

Danny Buchan and the FS3 Kawasaki team enjoyed a strong weekend with two top five finishes at Snetterton.

Buchan, who had been making progress with the Coventry-based outfit throughout the first three rounds, was able to benefit from a last minute choice to opt for the harder rear tyre to take his best results of the season so far.

In an attempt to finally make things work on a Superbike, the Essex lad has changed his approach somewhat for 2018 and that new approach has resulted in fewer crashes and improved consistency.

“We’ve had good pace throughout, which was quite surprising for me as I wouldn’t have expected good results at Snetterton as it’s hard work because of my size,” Buchan told MCN.

“We had a fresh engine this weekend, a bigger screen and a few other bits and it made such a big difference for me. Ten minutes before the first race I told the boys to put the harder tyre in, but we hadn’t run it all weekend and I think I was maybe a bit too kind to it early in the race. Race two was then hard work as I got a bit boxed in at the start and ended up 13th, so I was pleased to be able to fight through when everyone else’s tyre dropped off. I’m happy to have got two fifths, we’ll just keep chipping away and getting close each round.

“I’m trying to think a bit more this year. Before I would go out on a bike that didn’t feel right and push, but this year we’re working hard to get the bike right and I’m riding a bike I’m comfortable on.”
