BSB: Dixon evaluating suspension switch in Cartagena

Jake Dixon and the RAF Regular and Reserves Kawasaki team kicked off their 2018 season preparations this week as testing got underway in Spain.

The team had a short shakedown test at Calafat, which was unfortunately hampered by rain, earlier this week before heading to Cartagena to complete their winter testing ahead of the official test at Donington Park on March 20th.

Dixon has a number of new components to try throughout testing, including a new engine, a stiffer frame and the team are also evaluating a switch from Ohlins to K-Tech suspension so there are two ZX-10RRs in the garage for him to test back-to-back.

“We’ve got two superbikes in the garage and a lot of work to go through!” he told MCN. “We’ve a lot of different components to try so it’s just a matter of making our way through them and seeing what works best for us.

“I can’t give Lee and Simon enough credit, they’ve been working flat out at the workshop just to get these two superbikes built and they’ve pretty much given me what I’ve asked for and what I thought we needed to improve over the winter.

“I’m looking forward to some dry track time to see which way we’re going to go. We’re here to do a job and you don’t win anything here – it’s easy to get wrapped up in lap times but that’s not the point, we’re here to build the best bike we can for the season ahead.”
