BSB: Weather hampers Monteblanco test

1 of 1

The poor weather conditions battering Europe over recent weeks continued to hamper testing for the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike teams with squads out at the Monteblanco circuit held back by tricky conditions on the opening two days.

Heavy wind and rain on the opening day at the circuit just outside Seville limited track time for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki, Honda Racing and Be Wiser Ducati teams and while there was some time for dry laps on Tuesday morning, intermittent conditions led to a further halt in track action early in the afternoon.

When the heavy rain finally came, all riders headed out for some wet weather testing but all were disappointed not to be able to progress with their dry testing programmes.

“It was frustrating not to do a whole lot of laps with the weather,” Honda’s Dan Linfoot told MCN.

“We did 20 laps in the dry yesterday as it was windy and then the rain came, and we managed 15 laps in the dry this morning before the rain came down hard. A load of time was wasted this afternoon as it was neither wet nor dry but then it absolutely hooned it down so we went out for some wet laps.

“I was really impressed with how grippy this place is in the wet, you can go quite fast in comparison to dry times. However, we’ve not really managed to get through any of the technical tests we wanted to carry out so hopefully the weather is OK tomorrow for a busy day going through as much as we can.”

The Monteblanco test concludes tomorrow with a forecast for conditions to be much more favourable before the trio of teams head to Guadix to complete their Spanish testing.
