Bennetts British Superbike rider Aaron Zanotti is in intensive care following a crash on the second day of testing at Cartagena.

The BSB veteran highsided out of turn two at the Spanish circuit yesterday afternoon.

He was taken by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Santa Lucia in Cartagena where he has been diagnosed with eight broken ribs and a lung contusion and remains in ICU.

A statement on his Facbeook page read: “The second day’s testing didn’t go to plan! I highsided out of the second turn – quite a slow turn – in the afternoon. I’m still in ICU at the minute but I’ll let you know more when I do. The circuit and hospital staff have been awesome, thanks to everyone for their messages.”

The 37-year-old was preparing for his 12th season in the superbike class this year having switched from Yamaha to Kawasaki machinery.
