BSB: Small progress for Brookes at Oulton

1 of 1

Josh Brookes left Oulton Park with mixed feelings after a step forward with the McAMS Yamaha team saw him achieve two top six results, but it still wasn’t enough to see the former champion fighting at the sharp end.

Progress made during the Silverstone and Oulton tests translated in to better pace for Brookes this weekend but the Aussie admits there’s still work to do before we can see the title-fighting form he’s enjoyed in recent years.

“After the first two rounds, this weekend’s results were actually quite good,” he said. “The situation is we are chipping away, we stayed on two wheels when a lot of people fell and we are making changes that I feel have potential.

“We really need to go testing again now. Earlier in the season we were throwing things at a wall and seeing what stuck, but now we know what direction we are working in. I’m confident we can make further steps forward and I’m looking forward to trying some stuff at next week’s test to see if they work when put into practice.”
