BSB: Dixon: 'I can still win this'

Jake Dixon remains convinced he can still fight with Leon Haslam for the 2018 British Superbike crown despite a challenging weekend at Silverstone.

While he was quick throughout, especially over a single lap and in the early stages of races, the young gun was unable to mount a consistent challenge and when he did enjoy his strongest outing, fighting with Haslam for the win in the second race, he dramatically crashed out on oil on the final lap.

Walking away with a fifth and third place, Dixon lost 14 points to rival Haslam who is beginning to look unassailable as the championship heads into the three-round Showdown, but Dixon insists it isn’t over yet.

“This weekend wasn’t ideal, but I definitely still think I can win this title,” Dixon said. “The pressure is on Leon now, it’s not on me. As you’ve seen in the past, Leon gets nervous in the Showdown, he tightens up and that’s cost him in recent years… there are still seven races to go and anything can happen…”
