BSB: Dixon: 'We're just going to enjoy ourselves!'

Jake Dixon has said he is focused on doing whatever it takes to win races on Sunday after topping both practice sessions on the opening day of the tenth round of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park.

Dixon was quickest in both wet and dry conditions to lead the way on day one, but is keen not to get carried away as he looks to kick-start his title fight.

“It is nice to be fastest but the time to be fastest is on Sunday,” he told MCN.

“I feel good in all conditions now so whatever the weather throws at us I think we will be competitive.

“I am not one to worry even if I am struggling a bit, I am a worker and I work hard to get the results we need so even when it hasn’t been right on a Friday, we seem to be able to pull something out the bag and bring it to the track.”

Dixon says the key to his quick times was enjoying riding his ZX-10RR, which is the plan for the remainder of the season as he looks to take it to rival Leon Haslam in the title fight.

“I am just going to keep chipping away and hopefully I get some luck; or you make your own luck. We just need to keep the ball rolling and go into the Showdown and have some fun, because at the end of the day if you are having fun then you are fast and I had fun today.”
