Bennetts British Superbike bosses have confirmed that there will be three official tests before the 2019 season kicks off at Silverstone in April, with two new, official European tests introduced to the schedule.

Series bosses have introduced a new testing policy, which prohibits teams from testing until the first, official test at the Monteblanco circuit in Spain between 13/15 March.

This will see the majority of the Bennetts BSB grid lining up in one place for the first official test of the year as opposed to previous years where different teams have tested in a number of different locations.

Following the three days at Monteblanco, there will be a further two days on track over the border at Portimao on March 17/18.

The first British track action of the year will take place with an official test at Silverstone on April 9, with the day also featuring media activities for the teams and riders.

“Pre-season testing has traditionally seen a variety of different programmes from the Superbike teams, but this year there will be a concise format of official tests which will bring the competition closer and also give the teams a better environment to get their pre-season preparations underway,” said series boss Stuart Higgs.

“This year we have the biggest grid shakeup in recent years with the exciting prospect of new team and rider combinations and that makes these tests even more crucial ahead of the opening round of the season at Silverstone.”
