Keith Farmer will make his return to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend at Silverstone.

Farmer has joined the iForce Lloyd and Jones BMW team, who he also raced for in 2014, following the departure of Joe Francis earlier this week, and will remain with the Liverpool-based team for the remainder of the 2021 season.

The two-time British Superstock 1000 champion missed out on a full-time ride this season after initially returning to the Superstock class. Farmer raced with Buildbase Suzuki in the Superbike class last year, however he missed the majority of the season after tearing his ACJ ligament – which holds the shoulder and collarbone together – during the opening qualifying session of the year at Donington Park.

“It was always the plan to join the team after Silverstone, but I am very pleased to be back in the paddock,” Farmer said. “I’m hoping my experience with BMW will help further development the bike and get us on the pace from the off.”

The PR Racing squad and Francis mutually agreed to part ways on Tuesday. It has been a difficult campaign for Francis, who only has 12 points to his name after 21 races.

“As of today, myself and PR Racing have decided to part company,” Francis posted on Twitter. “It has been a very challenging and frustrating season so far, so I have had to make the tough decision to part ways as I need to progress with my career. I wish them all the best for the future in whatever direction they take.

“I’m now working on plans for the remainder of the season and next season. Thank you to all my personal sponsors and supporters for everything over the past few seasons.”

Farmer’s first session at Silverstone (FP1) is due to begin at 13:00 on Friday afternoon (September 10). This will be followed by FP2 at 15:45.
