BSB: Davey Todd to make full-time debut with Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles Honda

2022 Pirelli National Superstock Champion Davey Todd will make his full-time debut in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in 2023.

Todd moves into the Superbike class alongside the Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles Honda team which he rode for this season in the Superstock category. The 27-year-old made his BSB debut with the at the final round of 2022 at Brands Hatch, securing a pair of 15th places.

“I am super excited to re-sign with the Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles Honda team,” Todd said. “I’ve felt right at home there this year and after winning the Superstock Championship and it’s an awesome opportunity to get to move up to the Superbike class with the same team and same guys around me.

“I got to experience the Superbike class for the first time at the final round at Brands Hatch this season and we learned a lot as a team, and it definitely got me excited to be there full-time next season. I’ve just enjoyed my racing so much this year and want to approach 2023 in the same way – I can’t wait to get going already!”

Todd won the Superstock title after putting together a super consistent campaign, winning four races and securing a total of 11 podiums. Todd won four of the last five races that he competed in and ended the year with a 13-point cushion over Bill McConnell.

The Todd-Padgetts partnership has also enjoyed success on the roads, with victories at the Southern 100 and Armoy road races, alongside a podium in the Isle of Man TT Superstock race and a fourth in the Senior TT.

“What can I say other than we are thrilled to be back in Bennetts BSB with our Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles Honda team,” Team Owner, Clive Padgett said. “Everyone who knows our team will understand how much it meant to us to win the Superstock title with Davey this year and now this is a natural progression for us to take on the next challenge together. 

“As a team we have been on the BSB grid before and so it feels great to be coming back. We have seen what the Honda Fireblade is capable of in the class, and we know that Davey is a real talent as we have seen in National Superstock and on the roads, so we are really looking forward to getting the season started.”

Confirmation of Todd’s spot means that there are now four Honda Fireblade’s on the 2023 BSB grid. Andrew Irwin and Tom Neave line-up in the official Honda Racing UK team, whilst Danny Kent will also be on the Fireblade with Lovell Kent Racing.

Todd becomes the fourth rookie to be announced following Max Cook’s move to Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Racing Kawasaki, Bradley Perie’s move to Lee Hardy Racing Kawasaki, and Tim Neave’s promotion within the McAMS Yamaha setup.
