BSB: Alastair Seeley returns to TAS Racing for 2023 Superstock campaign onboard the SYNETIQ BMW

Alastair Seeley has signed for SYNETIQ BMW and will compete in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship this year.

It’s a partnership which has seen plenty of success in the past, with Seeley securing the Superstock title with the TAS Racing squad in 2009. That year, riding the Suzuki GSX-R1000, Seeley won the opening nine races and was crowned champion with three rounds remaining.

Seeley was promoted to the Superbike class the following year and claimed his maiden BSB win in the wet at Brands Hatch. He qualified for the Showdown and finished the year sixth overall with that sole win and two further podiums.

In 2011, Seeley rode for the team in the British Supersport Championship and claimed the title at the first attempt. Seeley won 10 races and secured a total of 19 podiums to pip Ben Wilson by a single point.

“It’s a dream come true for me to back in the British Superbike paddock and especially with TAS Racing,” Seeley said. “I have so many great memories with the team. We’ve had a lot of success together and to get the chance to ride the new BMW M RR in SYNETIQ BMW colours has me really buzzing.

“I’ve kept myself fit, as it’s a way of life now, and I won a few titles last season on the Irish scene, then proved I still have it at International level with a hat-trick at the NW200 – so this opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time.

“The goal is to win races for sure this season and have a good go at the Championship. I’d like to personally thank Philip and Hector Neill for the opportunity and a special mention to Graeme Hanna and William McCausland for supporting the venture.”

The partnership between Seeley and TAS Racing also extends to the roads. Seeley’s first victory at the North West 200 came with the team, under the Relentless Suzuki banner, in 2009 onboard the Superstock bike.

In 2012 Seeley won three more races at the NW200 and completed a full house of six podiums from six races. In 2017, Seeley completed another hat-trick onboard the Tyco BMW with a single Superbike victory and two Superstock wins.

“Having enjoyed numerous successes with Alastair in the past including two British titles, we are excited to work with him once again this season,” Team Principal Philip Neill said. “As a team, our return to the British Superstock class coincides with the arrival of a new BMW M RR, which we look forward to receiving ahead of official testing at the end of March.

“2023 marks our 20th year in BSB and it is important that we celebrate this milestone with race wins and a strong championship challenge. I believe in Alastair and in the TAS Racing prepared M1000RR we have the package to achieve this.

“Thanks as always to BMW Motorrad for trusting in our relationship and to our partners who have fully supported Alastair’s return to TAS Racing.”
