BSB: PTR Triumph set for British Supersport wildcard at Donington with Tom Booth-Amos and Ondrej Vostatek

World Supersport Championship team PTR Triumph will make a wildcard appearance in the British series this weekend at Donington Park.

Tom Booth-Amos returns to the UK after finishing runner-up to Ben Currie in last season’s title fight, and he’ll be joined by 19-year-old teammate Ondrej Vostatek on the grid. The team are hoping the track time will aid them ahead of the World Supersport meeting at Donington in July.

Onboard the Triumph Street Triple RS 765, Booth-Amos has a best finish of 13th so far in 2024 but he did win at Donington Park during the 2023 British Supersport season.

Back to BSB this week at Donington Park and I’m looking forward to getting out on the PTR Triumph and getting some important information ahead of the WorldSSP race in a few weeks,” Booth-Amos said.

Meanwhile, Vostatek has a best result of 14th so far this season, which is only his second full-time campaign in the world championship.  The Czech rider made his debut in 2021, scoring points at Portimao and Most, where he’d record a career-best result of 11th in 2022.

“This will be my first time in the British Superbike paddock,” Vostatek said. “I don’t really know what to expect, but we are going to try some new things on the bike. I have been working really hard to improve my physical ability and I think I am moving forward. I am really excited about this weekend; I want to focus on the track and the setting of the bike.”

Booth-Amos and Vostatek’s addition to the Donington grid means that there will be three World Supersport riders taking part this weekend. Earlier this week, Gearlink Kawasaki revealed that Moto3 and World Supersport race winner Can Oncu would be making a wildcard appearance for the team.

Four-time champion Jack Kennedy currently leads the way in the British Supersport Championship after two rounds, holding a one-point lead over Currie. Luke Stapleford is third overall, a further five points adrift.
