PlayStation is more than a game for Davies

Most 14 year-olds spend hours on their PlayStation trying to register high scores but it’s a little more serious for British youngster Chaz Davies.

He is currently spending hours with the controls in his hand trying to learn all the GP circuits as he is on the brink of clinching a dream 125 GP deal on a kitted 2002 Aprilia RS.

Davies, who isn’t 15 until next month, is finalising details of his contract with the well-established Matteoni Team.

Davies won two rounds of last year’s British 125 series and gained precious experience racing in the Spanish championship with Leon Camier. He has now been given special permission by his school to race in the 16-round world championship.

He’s even said he’ll try and do some of his school work on the long haul flights to places like Japan, South Africa, Australia and Malaysia.

He said: ” It’s about 90 per cent a done deal and I should sign officially next week ”

Davies will join experienced Czech rider Jaroslav Hules in the Matteoni squad.
