Checa RCV test disaster

Carlos Checa made a disastrous Honda RCV debut this morning at Valencia.
The Spaniard crashed on only his third lap at turn three as he returned to Michelin tyres after a season with Bridgestone on the Marlboro Ducati.
Checa has been declared fit to return to action this afternoon after he underwent precautionary chest X-rays at hospital in Valencia.
Today saw several riders and teams begin their preparations for the 2006 MotoGP world championship at a cold and blustery Valencia circuit.
British rider James Ellison made his Ducati Desmosedici debut, taking to the track first when officials opened the pitlane at 10am local time.
Reigning world 250 champion Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner have also lapped on the Honda RCV on the first morning of the two-day test that has also been disrupted by light rain showers.
New world 125 champion Thomas Luthi has completed several laps on board Sete Gibernau’s factory Honda. His ride is a present from Honda for winning the 125 crown.
